Botswana, an ideal choice for a luxury custom African safari, from the Okavango Delta’s lush waterways to the shimmering white salt pans of Makgadikgadi Pans, offers a perfect African Safari destination for discerning travelers and honeymooners.
Botswana is Africa’s success story. From being one of the world’s poorest countries before its independence in 1966 to a booming economy and a stable country, today. In the heart of southern Africa, Botswana offers possibly the finest, authentic wildlife experience in the world.
The most striking features of the country are its flatness and aridity. Except for Botswana’s eastern part, where the great majority of locals reside and where the summer rainfall is slightly higher, three-quarters of Botswana is technically a desert. This is what makes the Okavango Delta even more remarkable. It is a beautiful wetland within a desert that gets its waters from rains in central Africa, 620 miles away.
Botswana today focuses on high quality / low volume tourism as the best way to create a sustainable industry that would employ a large percentage of its people while still preserving the environment. Today wildlife and tourism employ about 45% of all the people who live in northern Botswana.
With Recherché Journeys, create your tailor-made Botswana luxury safari and enjoy Bushmen walks to learn about their culture, interact with groups of meerkats or spend an unforgettable sleep-out beneath the shimmering African sky during your spectacular African safari.
