Day 1-3

Okavango Delta - Chief's Island

You will begin your journey at Mombo – arriving on a charter flight that arrives at the camp’s airstrip. Mombo is situated on the northern tip of Chief’s Island and is known for its spectacular wildlife encounters and high levels of luxury and service. The camp’s luxurious tents overlook a productive plain where plains game are often seen. Morning and afternoon game drives reveal prolific herds of game and predators – earning Mombo its reputation as one of the top wildlife destinations in Africa. The Mombo Concession is known as the “Place of Plenty”, highlighted by the massive concentrations of plains game and predators that live here. These include all the big cats, of which lion sightings are frequent. Morning and afternoon game drives reveal all sorts of wonders – you never know what you will see next! There is also a hide 20 minutes from camp from which you can view and photograph animals and birds.

Day 4-6

Okavango Delta - Kwedi Concession

After your morning activity, and a delicious breakfast, you will fly to the lavish Vumbura Plains Camp – a quick and scenic plane ride from Mombo. Vumbura Plains is situated in the Kwedi Concession in the Okavango Delta – a luxurious and inimitable camp that offers both land and water experiences. Vumbura Plains lies in an area that is a mix of water and dry land. The wildlife is diverse so that both land and water activities on vehicles, mekoro, and boats deliver an all-around African safari experience. Vumbura is home to a mix of wildlife from water-loving lechwe that reside in the wetland areas to the rare sable antelope found grazing in the dry savannah. All year round predators such as lion, leopard, and cheetah can be seen.

Day 7-9

Linyanti WIldlife Reserve

After breakfast, a charter flight departs for the Chobe Airstrip located in the private Linyanti Concession, Northern Botswana. Named for Scandinavian royalty, King’s Pool overlooks the handsome oxbow-shaped King’s Pool Lagoon in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve bordering Chobe National Park. The camp’s nine luxurious tents each boast a large bedroom area and lounge leading out onto a veranda with a private plunge pool and thatched sala from which to soak up the gorgeous views and possibly even spot elephant crossing the channel. Along the Linyanti faultline are varied woodland habitats and ancient floodplains, making the Linyanti an essential component of a Botswana itinerary. These landscapes host abundant wildlife including the world’s highest densities of elephants in the dry winter months. Twice daily game drives and guided bush walks bring you up close to all sorts of wildlife. End your day on the stylish King’s Pool barge – the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere of the Linyanti.

The last morning breakfast and a game drive will be followed by a Wilderness Air flight returning you to Maun where you will connect with your onward flight.

Camps:

 

Mombo Camp: An opulent safari camp located just off the northern tip of Chief’s Island, the largest landmass in the Okavango, Mombo is considered the most fertile area in the Delta. Elevated on wooden decks beneath towering shade trees, Mombo overlooks a floodplain teeming with game. Elegant, expansive guest suites celebrate the history and traditions of the camp, while a large deck and plunge pool are ideal vantage points from which to observe the passing wildlife.

 

Vumbura Plains: Luxurious Vumbura Plains lies in an area that is a mix of water and dry land. The wildlife is diverse so that both land and water activities on vehicles, mekoro, and boats deliver an all-around African safari experience. Vumbura Plains comprises two satellite camps, each with its own main area with an expansive vista across the floodplains and furnished with idiosyncratic objets d’art. The 14 tents, raised off the ground, are unique and contemporary in design, with extensive use of light, wood, and space. Each includes a sunken lounge, sala, and plunge pool. Each of the two family units have private decks linking the two separate tents.

 

King’s Pool: Named for Scandinavian royalty, this stylish camp overlooks the oxbow-shaped King’s Pool Lagoon and Linyanti River system. Activities include day and night game drives, guided nature walks, and nearby hides, ideal for photographing birds and wildlife. In the dry season, guests can spend their siesta watching game come down to drink at the unique underground hide, where the water is at eye level. Seeing elephant feet and trunks almost within touching distance while safely inside is an experience that transcends that of an ordinary safari. This 100% solar-powered camp, has seven well-appointed thatch and canvas twins and one suite, each boasting a spacious bedroom and lounge area leading to a veranda that soaks up the gorgeous views of the lagoon. The sumptuous main area comprises a pool, lounge, library, dining, and convivial bar area stylishly set on expansive raised decks close to the water’s edge. An open-air ‘kgotla’ for evening dining under the stars.
