Egypt

The perception of Egypt as an enigma is deeply ingrained in our minds. No other country has kept, not just the scholars, but the entire world enthralled and enraptured with the mystery that still surrounds its origins, history, culture, and civilization spanning over 5,000 years. The logic-defying feats of engineering, The Pyramids of Giza, colossal temples, and the enormous Sphinx testify Egypt’s timelessness. These archaeological treasures, including Abu Simbel, the Valley of the Kings, and cruising on the Nile river, are on every traveler’s must-see list.

However, there is more to Egypt. It is home to beautiful beaches, magnificent dunes, unique desert landscapes, pristine coral reefs, and luxurious resort towns.

Why travel:

Pyramids & Ancient Icons: Of course, the Pyramids! The iconic historical sites of Egypt are the no. 1 reason why every traveler visits Egypt. Explore archeological wonders like the Sphinx, Valley of the Kings, where Tutankhamun’s tomb was discovered. Historic Cairo, ancient Christian heritage site – Abu Mena, temples of Ramesses II & his wife Nefertiti at Abu Simbel, Saint Catherine’s monastery at Mt. Sinai, and more.

Cairo: The capital of Egypt is the first introduction to the land of mysticism. Cairo juxtaposes centuries of history and culture displayed in the ancient and ornate mosques, madrassas, and tombs with ultra-modern city life, vibrant with beautifully constructed malls and western food options. Islamic Cairo is Cairo’s historic heart and home to numerous buildings dating back to the early 16th century. Coptic Cairo is located in Old Cairo, where the first settlements date back to the 6th century B.C.

Nile River Cruise: The Nile was the lifeblood of ancient Egypt and provided fertile land, food, and transportation. Drifting on the Nile River, past the ancient tombs and temples, is one of Egypt’s top experiences. Most cruises sail between Aswan and Luxor, with visits to Esna, Edfu, and Kom Ombo along the way. The most popular option is to travel by cruise ship. Dahabiya (smaller wooden ships) or Felucca (small Egyptian sailboats) are perfect for those who prefer smaller groups.

Diving in the Red Sea: Warm, clear water with excellent visibility, spectacular reefs, and abundant marine life make Egypt’s the Red Sea, one of the top diving destinations in the world. It is also a prime wreck diving destination with several wrecks from WW II. Top diving spots include Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, and Marsa Alam.
